This event has ended.

Austé's art is feminism by way of enchantment. Her world is one of self-possessed sylphlike women-and their feline companions-for whom shared femininity is an everlasting source of ensorcellment. Inhabiting stark, bejeweled landscapes, Austé's undines materialize, intermingle and evanesce leaving showers of fantastical architecture and ornamentation in their wake. The artist's defiant romantic fantasy, exoticism, and hothouse décor recalls the likes of Florine Stettheimer and Jack Smith, while her assimilation of Hairy Who imagism, Cass Corridor Punk, New Wave sensibility and East Village pop/funk gives Austé's art its own unique air of beautiful insubordination.
