This event has ended.

Among the works in this rotation are several recent gifts to the Department of Drawings and Prints, including groups of sixteenth-century Italian drawings by artists from Florence and the north of Italy, as well as monumental Neoclassical architectural drawings. Also highlighted is a selection of drawings and prints depicting insects from the seventeenth through the twentieth centuries, such as An Arrowhead Blue Butterfly and a Scotch Bonnet Sea Shell, the recently acquired oil sketch by Balthasar van der Ast (1593 or 1594–1657). Work by artists who were inspired by the prints of Albrecht Dürer (1471–1528)—ranging from Daniel Hopfer (ca. 1470–1536) to William Kentridge (b. 1955)—are also on view. Another group juxtaposes sixteenth-century Flemish proverb prints with a recent print by Jane Hammond (b. 1950), which also renders proverbs. Additional highlights are a portfolio of twelve wood engravings on handmade paper by the American painter and printmaker Terry Winters (b. 1949) and a color monotype and preparatory drawing by the New York–based figurative artist Mary Beth McKenzie (b. 1946).
