New paintings from 2009 by German artist Tim Eitel in his second solo exhibition at the gallery. The works are based on pictorial elements isolated from photographs that Eitel takes on city streets as part of an ongoing investigation of the world surrounding him. Using dark, flat backgrounds and distilling out all reference to motion or change, the paintings become a lens into the viewer’s own contextual references and associations.
