This event has ended.

Hielscher's primary subject is the relationship between language, picture, space and movement. Her conceptual works summon iconic, genre-expanding, works such aswall drawings, paper stacks and ready-mades filtered through contemporary dialectics. Several of the works in the exhibition follow this strain; "Antinomie" 2009, is a serial group of canvases hung side byside, one larger than the next, their surface incrementally stripped away determined by multiples of A4 paper formats. "Sphere" 2009, is comprised of concentric graphite circles measuring the artists wingspan directly applied to the wall, the imprecision of movement thus leaves a physical trace. Hielschers "Window" series are mirrors cut in the various shapes of painters palettes, by positioning the mirror to face out a window;the object actively reflects changing environments immediately outside. Through re-imagining familiar forms and inventing new ones,Hielscher revises a trajectory of art historical concerns into thepresent time and place.

Hielscher; Born,1980, Braunschweig, Germany, lives and works in Berlin, Germany.
