Chinese Contemporary Gallery presents Beijing-based artist Han Yajuan's first solo exhibition in New York. The artist illustrates her experience with expectations placed on a young female raised in the amalgamation of China's communist, traditional yet increasing Western and commercialistic society.

Han Yajuan's females, with influences from anime and manga, are marvelous caricatures of a growing urban reality. These types of female are visible all over China's cities. The intelligence and creativity of the artist shows in the great sense of make believe and fun emanating from these works and in her capacity to step back and present an amusing yet very palpable deal.
