This event has ended.

In a spectacular new show titled Vienna Biedermeier: The Art of Walnut opening October 1st in New York, ILIAD (www.iliadantik.com) is celebrating its Tenth Anniversary Year by featuring some of the most sought-after examples of Austria’s Walnut Masterworks in the Biedermeier style.

ILIAD co-owners Adam Brown and Andrea Zemel say, “ The Biedermeier furniture style of 1815 to 1830 is the result of a confluence between history, geography, and industrial innovation.”

Highlights in the show include an exceptional Biedermeier Trumeau Commode with a drop-front desk and vitrine in bookmatched walnut veneer with engaged columns and carved and gilt capitals, (Austria 1820-25); a trumpet shaped, tilt-top Biedermeier Pedestal Table with bookmatched walnut veneer and maple inlays (Vienna c1825); a Rare Biedermeier Sofa attributed to the workshop of Josef Danhauser, with walnut veneer and maple inlays and ebonized detailing; an exceptional Biedermeier Library Table with unusual cog and gear design and tapered Doric columns (Austria 1830); an unusual set of four Biedermeier Side Chairs with heart-shaped back in walnut never with maple inlays (Vienna 1825-30); another exceptional pair of Biedermeier Side Chairs with vividly figured walnut veneer in an elegant fan back splay (Vienna 1825); an elegant Biedermeier Center Hall Table with scrolled legs on a tripod base, also created from bookmatched walnut veneer Austria (1830); and another exceptional Pedestal Table with an hexagonal base (Austria 1830).
