This event has ended.

Galería Galou (New York) presents Season Finale [at 237 kent Ave.] Selected artworks from the artists Patricia Cazorla and Nancy Saleme, with Lauren Philson as guest artist.

Season Finale [at 237 kent Ave.] will include a wall installation by Ms. Saleme's intricate and organic drawings inspired by exotic textile patterns, and a selection of Ms. Cazorla's biographical oil paintings that depict the many years of life experiences in the neighborhood of Williamsburg. Photographer Lauren Philson will showcase her fantastical editorial photoillustrations and montages.

Galería Galou says now good-bye to the physical space where it has been housed since the beginning. We invite you to join us for the last time at Kent Avenue in this special event.

The exhibition opens November 7th with a reception for the artists from 6 pm to 8 pm. There will be a special by-invitation-only celebration at b.p.m, the back space of the gallery, from 8 pm onwards. Season Finale [at 237 kent Ave.,] will remain on view through November 29th. By appointment only.

Galería Galou was born seven years ago. What first was, a studio with occasional projects and exhibits, later became a cutting edge alternative gallery for emergent art.

Founded by Venezuelan artist Patricia Cazorla with the help of Nancy Saleme, Alejandra Villasmil and Hisayasu Takashio, Galería Galou emerged alongside the Williamsburg phenomenon. With almost zero budget the gallery quickly attracted recognition from gallery goers and artists, both nationally and internationally. Thanks to its juried exhibitions, selected curatorial proposals by young curators and participation at selected art fairs, Galería Galou became a bridge to many international artists, especially women and Venezuelans.

Far from being a traditional gallery Galería Galou hosted a diverse array of initiatives such as: Vidéo Femmes, an artist talk with Venezuelan artist Nela Ochoa, curated by Yucef Merhi, Venezuelan artist and NYFA Fellowship in Digital/Electronic Arts grantee; Shortos, short films from Latin-American emerging filmmakers curated by Alejandro Fernández Almendras, Chilean filmmaker whose latest feature was recently selected for the Cannes Film Festival; and NISUS, a series of live performances of sound and video art, curated by Richard Garet, Uruguayan visual artist and NYSCA grantee.

Furthermore, Galería Galou collaborated with the artist cooperative Werketage, and Galerie R31 (Berlin, Germany); with Solar Art and Design (East Hampton, NY); and with the New York City-based The Lab at Roger Smith Arts, among many others.

Galería Galou couldn't have grown and thrived without the help and support from artists and art lovers. Our biggest gratitude goes to: Sofía Cazorla, Marina Garde, Lucia Pizzani, Ariadna Capasso, Uli Brahmst, Leonor Mendoza, Saeed Pourkay, Yucef Merhi, Rodolfo Graziano, Patricia Bernard (Empanadas Café), Juan Merino, Laura Turégano, Trinidad Fombella, Hernan Carrara, William Scheckel, Thierry Alet (Frère Independent), Marco Antonini, Denis Sheila Puri, Klaus, Armando Figueredo and the band Los Amigos Invisibles.
