Michael DeLucia "Never Odd Or Even" and Luke Stettner "What Was, What Wasn't, What Will Never Be"
Kate Werble Gallery
This event has ended.
"Never Odd Or Even" is an exhibition by Michael DeLucia exploring the implications of a sculptural process moving toward technology. Using mass-produced objects and basic materials, DeLucia mimics phenomena that are unique to the medium of computer modeling. Emphasis is placed on an economy of means as the pieces are assembled or cut directly from the file with a computer-controlled milling machine. The focus of this work is what is lost or gained during the translation to reality.
In "What Was, What Wasn't, What Will Never Be," Luke Stettner continues to examine the reliability of sight and its impact on the division between the past and the present. Employing sculpture, photography, printmaking, and installation, Stettner challenges transient timeframes, giving a brief moment the appearance of infinite time. In Untitled, a discreet debossment of text recedes overtime, performing
physically the act of visual forgetting, and suggesting it as a way to remember. Stettner lends a sense of vulnerability to each of his projects as he explores the in- between of revealing and concealing.
