In his recent series of 12, small-scale, acrylic on wood panel
paintings, Nick Ghiz brings together divergent themes
surrounding the exoticism of nature and the domesticity of
city life through delightfully incongruous pairings of humans,
exotic animals, and birds within domestic scenes and
cityscapes. They are accompanied by a series of wall
mounted, life-size heads of performing artists sculpted from
clay in relief, and a selection of the artist’s earlier life-size
and large-scale wooden sculptures of the human body.
