This event has ended.

New York born visual artist Pat Conlon will make his debut at GalleryBar. The exhibit, which consists of hand painted depictions of women on used outdoor ad signage, speaks to the artist's fascination with advertising, visual impressions and modern day consumer culture.

Works of Women is made up of a compilation of still images of female subjects at different stages of climax appropriated from the web. The images, painted over used ad signage, were created using billboard-sized pieces of vinyl (30 ft. x 60 ft.) and acrylic based paints. Sections from each ad were pulled over stretcher board in order to paint the images of the women
that appear in each work.

Conlon's works, which are large scale images (about 6 feet each) will be on display in the space throughout the duration of the exhibit. Highlights will include #106 which is made up of a piece of vinyl from an ad for "Spiderman 3" as well as #78 which depicts an image of two people kissing over the iconic illustration of the Quicksilver logo. Each work serves to provoke thoughts of consumerism in today's society and is titled by its' corresponding number from the web, which plays on the fact that each of us is solely a number through the eyes of an advertiser. The artist explains "at the end of the day that's what we all feel like, a name and a number."

"Conlon has a genuine knack for selecting direct and powerful icons in his graphic illustrations...The themes range from consumer icons to human sexuality and nature but always keeping a strong keel in genuine experience...So pay attention because none of these drips are accidental" - Renowned artist, Tom Sachs
