This event has ended.

In 1969, Louis K. Meisel opened the Meisel Gallery at 1022 Madison Avenue with a focus on new realist painting. That same year, he coined the phrase Photorealism and became a pioneer of Photorealist art, championing the work of such renowned painters as Richard Estes, Audrey Flack, Chuck Close, Charles Bell, Ron Kleemann and Tom Blackwell. In 1973, he joined a handful of other pioneering dealers in the newly formed SoHo Art District, opening the Louis K. Meisel Gallery on Prince Street where they have flourished for the past thirty-six years. Mr. Meisel continues to exhibit many of the original Photorealist painters and is the author of numerous books on the movement which are recognized as the definitive volumes on the subject.
