This event has ended.

Having studied with Robert Motherwell, James Brooks, Buckminster Fuller, Roberto Juarez, and James and Nieves Billmyer (long time students of Hans Hofmann), Mira Lehr’s talent has been honed on the shoulders of the great. But it is always purely her own statement.

Lehr’s art reflects her love of nature, but is not visually a mere imprint of nature. The inspiration is there, but the works link also to her memories, her dreams and her intelligence. Her work is lush, even poetic. It is about space and how all things relate to each other. Abstraction contrasts with natural images and it is not unusual to find collage material intensifying the visual impact.

With her new body of work, she is pursuing new tones, and a variety of different collage elements, sometimes even the use of her own hair. It is used so delicately that one would not know unless told. Heavenly bodies, which were a large part of her early paintings are now gone and it is not unusual to find inspiration from DNA material.
