At the beginning of her seminal video diary, THE SHATTERED MIRROR, Marina Goldovskaya pans across an impossibly long gas queue to rest on a man who sits in his idle car. He asks, "Who are you filming this for, and why?", to which she simply replies, "For history." But for Goldovskaya, one of Russia's best-known and most celebrated documentary filmmakers, history is always an investigation in the moment. Always interweaving the personal and the universal, her work presents an opportunity to see Russian history unfold 'before your very eyes.'
