Julie A. McConnell's sixth solo exhibition questions how the objects we use to celebrate life threaten it. McConnell photographs a 21st Century venus rising from the sea, the human body engulfed by party trash, newspapers and washed-up mylar balloons inscribed with sentimental, life-affirming messages. Her installation of animal assemblages surrounded by encroaching balloon flotillas underscores the fragility of existence in an ecologically imbalanced world.
