The Book began as a project between two 12 year old schoolmates on a sleepover. It continued throughout the year as they turned 13. The book was passed back and forth daily and gradually filled with diaristic text, images, stickers, drawings, inside-jokes and photos from parties and Bar Mitzvahs). It grew and evolved and became an artifact of a year, pure truth, unadulterated by the more mediated, distanced, compressed artistic process in which adult artists and authors attempt to re-capture this essence of this passage. It was a true collaboration, sometimes taking precedence over homework.
