Felicia Letowsky’s third solo show at SOHO20 Chelsea Gallery, Words of Wisdom, explores the influence of song lyrics in visual art, through a series of porcelain sculptures and black and white photography. The installation brings to the viewer, a heightened awareness of the beauty and subtelty found within everyday moments.
Through the fabrication of hundreds of handmade procelain petals, Letowsky’s work manifests the spiritual connection between her own process and the words of singer songwriter, John Lennon. Through the clarity that is found within the words, a new experience of hope, compassion and generosity is presented for the viewer to embrace. Similarly, a series of double-exposed black and white photographs, captures and confuses an actual moment lived by the artist. Recalling a seemingly recognizeable but incomprehensible experience, the imagery provokes the slightest glimpse of a bittersweet memory.
