This event has ended.

Lines of little stuffed chairs with papier mâché human legs embody Glasser's fanciful fusion portrait gallery. Each mixed media sculpture evokes a singular personality with carefully coordinated furniture design, upholstery fabric, and fashioned footwear. Barefoot, socked, and/or sneaker-clad forms seem comfortable and easy-going, while those wearing intricately patterned stockings and high-heel shoes convey a more formal, dignified demeanor.

Glasser's sculpted chair portraits draw inspiration from sources both real and imaginary, often fueled by memories of familiar people sitting in their customary seats. "My mother had a special chair she always sat in. It was Victorian in design, faded velvet, and strategically positioned between living room and kitchen, affording her a convenient view of the entire household. I remember how she sat there to do most every task, including her many creative activities.... When we were young, my mother made miniature chairs for my sister and me to play with--chairs she made while sitting in her very own particular chair."
