This event has ended.

NY Studio Gallery presents the 4th Annual International ARTcamp 2009: Studio Residency Program. For two months the gallery will be transformed into studio space for six national and international artists. The work will range from installation and performance to video, drawing and sculpture with a tendency toward the figural, physical and interactive.

Performance works include Long Island City & Texas based collaborative Kate Burnet & Dan Woerner, who seek to “stimulate growth in the artistic sector” through demonstrations of trust such as games, ropes course activities, group yoga, role-playing, cooking and think-tank type sessions. Similarly, Brooklyn based Angela Rose Voulgarelis Illgen facilitates the interaction between art and everyday life through site specific / durational performances that combine embroidery, installation, and fanciful notions of “airing dirty laundry.”

Korean born artist Sung Min Lee plans to create a series of physical images that relate with body parts to reflect individual history, experience and memory, using organic materials to create sculptural “pillows.” Scotland born, Barcelona based Patsy McArthur will create large scale figurative compositions inspired by New York and based on the relationship between figures and their environment.

Video installations include Barcelona based Laura Clemente Castillejo who plans to design a multimedia entertainment environment using video, sound, photographs, illustrations and sketches. New York based Elise Roedenbeck will develop a collage and video installation combining universal myths with personal memories. Gallery hours continue to be in effect during ARTcamp, allowing visitors to see work in progress, and to meet and learn about the artists’ work and process first hand.
