Founded in 1959, the FESTIVAL DEI POPOLI is devoted to promoting and studying social documentary cinema. The second New York edition is part of an ongoing movement by the Festival to celebrate its 50th anniversary through the circulation of its rich collection of archival footage abroad. The five-day event will feature two programs of auteur documentaries, depicting reality and history as filtered through personal aesthetic.
The FESTIVAL DEI POPOLI is developed in concert with the FitzGerald Foundation of Florence. It is also made possible with support from the Regione Toscana and the Mediateca Regionale Toscana Film Commission.
