Sylvia Hennequin was born in Swaziland at the very end of the turbulent 60's and grew up in the Netherlands. Both time and environment created a radical soul destined to create, explore and communicate.
As an artist Sylvia seeks total freedom to develop work and express herself beyond the confines of the establishment be it art or social.
Her work reflects snapshots of her own self discovery. Although she works in multiple media, always looking for new methods or material to express herself, painting through its pigments and textures, are her primary focus.
Although trained at prestigious visual art school in Rotterdam she chooses to allow free flowing thoughts to dictate the course of her work.
What begins as a vague but urgent concept probed more often than that not is destined to produces a series of explosive thoughts and images.
Sylvia's fears, insecurities, dreams and desires and her ability to execute them on a visual format allow us a better perspective of our own worlds and possibilities.
