This event has ended.

In "Watermark", the poet Joseph Brodsky, from St. Petersburg like Alexey Titarenko, depicts Venice as an extension of St. Petersburg. In his new series of images taken between 2001-2008 Alexey Titarenko has captured Venice, much as he portrayed St. Petersburg, as a city of shadows-- a fading city in its dreamlike beauty and surreal atmosphere. Here, even the solidity of the marble fails and seems to evaporate. Titarenko increases this feeling by leaving the shutter open, so everything hangs suspended, and Brodsky's Venice, a city of approximations, becomes visible.
