A fine collection of very interesting photos, especially the "JP-22" series, exploring how flat a landscape can be -- shadows minimized, streets and roofs and fields turned into mere textures, people virtually invisible. By contrast, the detail is stunning and almost overwhelming.
Matsue's later work, "Cell", explores what can be done with that detail, flattening the image more than ever, but with a different device (blowing up a very small part of an image). Strong photos: a group of grainy ladies enjoying the cherry blossoms, or the office worker and his pal the house builder embedded in the pavement--or are they walking on it?
"Nest" did not move me quite as much, although there is something surprising, perhaps even worrying, to seeing photos of extremely well-known cityscapes giving off a totally different feel (flat, lonely, dry) than what you've seen elsewhere.
