This event has ended.

Graffiti artist, Lane Coggin, credits Basquiat as a powerful model to paint what you feel. Raised in an offbeat atmosphere in Chelsea, his mother an abstract expressionist and father a commercial photographer, Lane spent most of his time on the urban streets graffiti writing. A creative seriousness developed with the use of one of his first big tags as the background for the Strikers' album cover. After carrying on the family lineage and studying under close family friend, New York School abstract expressionist, Knox Martin, he eventually moved back to his roots as a graffiti artist comprising his street edgy sense of color and form with muted influences of Hofmann, Pollock, Krasner and de Kooning. With this dichotomy, Lane successfully weaves NY Street with NY School, intertwining movements are expressively placed to form a visual musicality that is often associated with the harmonies of Pollock.
