This event has ended.

An exhibition of new paintings by Philemona Williamson — vivid and colorful imagery depicts the fragile and edgy world of adolescents. — will open at the June Kelly Gallery on Friday, October 3rd. The exhibition will remain on view through November 8.

For many years, Williamson has passionately explored the innocence and wonder of pubescent youth with revelations of impetuous childhood and its magical transformation advancing toward adulthood. Her unique visual narratives continue to captivate, as figures on her canvas are empowered with the fascination of search, intrigue and growth.

Williamson’s commissions include “Seasons,” a mural of faceted glass, for the MTA’s Art in Transit program at the Livonia Station in Brooklyn, and “Folktales from Around the World,” four glass mosaic murals for the New York City Board of Education at the Glen Oaks Campus School, Queens.
