This event has ended.

F. Scott Fitzgerald once said; "there are no second acts in American lives." If that is true, then Brice Marden's aesthetic trajectory is a notable exception. Very few who first admired Marden's monochromatic panels of the 1960s would have predicted the jewel-like colors and lush arabesques of the artist's current abstractions. Yet while his more recent work appears to be a sharp break with his early production, a more careful examination reveals surprising continuities. This can be seen most clearly by examining the artist's extensive body of prints because Marden is as likely to work out formal problems in his prints as he does in his paintings or drawings. As such, his graphics afford an unparalleled opportunity to chart his journey along one of the most astonishing paths in contemporary American art. This exhibition will include examples from all periods of his four decades as a printmaker.
