In his first solo show in New York, Throwell’s videos explore human behavior, mixing the mundane with the horrific and appalling. In one video, like a modern rendition of a Freudian dream, a man sets up his
work cubicle in the middle of San Francisco’s financial district, and strips naked while busying himself on the phone and the computer; in another, a train passes endlessly though stations without ever stopping, a third depicts a little girl fearlessly strokes an enormous python which lies around her neck, heedless of the danger or the unconscious sexuality of her actions.
