It is in Lenkkeri’s interest to survey the phenomena of representation in its myriad forms. It appears that we are gradually becoming the audience of our own lives, as everything is being served for us manmade and so alienated from the real; it is as if experience wouldn’t have a place in our lives any more.
Cinema remains a strong influence in Lenkkeri’s work. His photographs are often to be seen as scenes from the borderlands of the real and staged. Also to work with relatively long exposure times and so to compress a duration of time as well as action in a single image is an often incurring method in Lenkkeri’s work.
