This event has ended.

Long-Bin Chen is known for working with books, phone books, catalogs, and magazines as his medium. Using traditional sculpture techniques, the artist hand carves the books into beautiful faces, rooms, and Buddha heads which resemble carved stone or marble.

For this solo exhibition, Long-Bin Chen has created a 7ft by 10 ft. by 10 ft. sculpture out of NYC phone books entitled "Continental Express", featuring 24 carved monuments and iconic figures from around the world including Mt. Rushmore, Egyptian Pharaohs, Buddha heads, Homer and Caesar. Traveling around the interior of the sculpture will be a train which will project a video of the monuments and icons allowing the viewer to take the journey around the world.

There will also be a new installation where Chen provides the lens to the inside world of the book. Using peepholes in the sculptures, the artist creates a view inside the book featuring a miniature setting of figurines relating to the text of each book, bringing the viewers attention to language and looking.
