"Empathy," a one-person exhibition of figurative paintings by award-winning artist Lisa Bartolozzi represents the culmination of more than ten years of exquisitely detailed work. Bartolozzi utilizes the nude figure and all the realities of the human form as a canvas upon which to explore the connections of human age, gender, emotion and the natural world. Her process is painstaking, beginning with research into the landscapes and locations that become her backgrounds. In the style of the renaissance masters, the artist applies color in many thin layers to build the final image. She works on several paintings at one time, as each painting requires a series of glazes, which can take months to dry completely.
