David Dewey "Full Moon Rising"
Bernarducci Meisel Gallery
This event has ended.
Dewey's paintings are imbued with a quiet and peaceful simplicity of objects but richness of feeling. A consummate painter of atmosphere, his new paintings remarkably encapsulate the moment in which they are executed. Created beneath a scrim of raking light, his work is infused with a romantic, hopeful and inspiring quality. In each of these new watercolors, the vast seascapes suggest a cosmic sense of time and space. While the coexistence of man and nature is implied, human life appears diminutive in relation to nature’s boundlessness. Our very existence is examined through the exquisite splendor of nature. The images are subtle, yet beneath the surface there lingers an undercurrent of desire and anticipation. "Full Moon Rising" will mark 30 years since David Dewey's first solo exhibition in New York.
