This event has ended.

NY Coo Gallery presents “Hip Festival”, an exhibition of paintings and performances by TakashiP. The hips as artistic tools… Put paint on the butt… Sit on paper… Rub, smear, turn, squeeze… There you have it, a brilliant butt print.
TakashiP began using his own hips as an artistic motif while studying sculpture at Wako University’s Art Department. After graduating in 2004, TakashiP, a frequent visitor to New York City, continued his creative activities in Japan. Consisting of pertinacious blend of fetishism, narcissism and egotism, his love and obsession for the hips - his own hips in particular - became the source of his inspirations, essences of his creativity. Soon, his fundoshi (traditional Japanese men’s underwear) -clad hips started showing up in public places. The exhibition recaptures the essences of traditional Japanese festivals - human-packed sidewalks, street vendors and performers, all that noise and everything… Covering every inch of the wall with Hip Art. Brightest of colors and intriguing shapes combine to create a festive, carnival-like mood. With obvious self-intoxication and cool inner objectivity, TakashiP makes people laugh, stare and think on his way to laugh at himself.
