This event has ended.

Over the years Greenwich House Pottery has developed a unique collection of ceramic objects that have been donated by visiting artists, important work by prominent artists including Rudy Autio, Peter Voulkos, Betty Woodman, Mary Frank, Richard Notkin, Rosanjin, Shoji Hamada, Robert Turner and Warren Mackenzie.

One the eve of its centennial year, the Board of Directors of Greenwich House, Inc. voted to de-accession this collection and use the proceeds to establish an urgently needed endowment fund for the Pottery. This decision was made for two principal reasons. First, the Pottery is not a collecting institution and has inadequate space and resources to store, display, insure and preserve the collection. Second, the value of the collection and the importance of these often groundbreaking works has grown significantly over
the course of recent decades, which means the Pottery stands to gain a significant and endowment for the Pottery from this sale.

The second event, May 15th-June 1st, will feature pieces by the likes of Val Cushing, Kim Dickey, Edna Gilmartin, Margaret
Israel, Matt Nolen, and some modestly scaled works by some artists mentioned above and many others. This is a chance for Greenwich House
students and supporters, and is a chance to 'adopt' a piece of the Pottery's history and support our new endowment fund. The more significant pieces, which are likely to find new homes in museums and important private
collections, will serve as ceramic ambassadors, bringing Greenwich House Pottery into a wider sphere of appreciation and scholarship.
