Yoko Furusho "Exhale"

Destination Art Space

poster for Yoko Furusho "Exhale"

This event has ended.

Entitled "exhale," the gallery space will be filled with a series of drawings and sculptures that draw us into Furusho's wonderland between imagination and reality: lots of fluffy mushrooms, flying birds, detailed drawn animals, and girls listening to music, eating sweets, dancing in a nice dress, etc…. Furusho's works are always full of fantasy and express their feelings in their own world. Apparently, the characters of her works are tempting us to be in the wonderland. Meanwhile, the characters seem to say we cannot be like them because we already know Alice eventually comes back to the real world from her "wonderland."

Furusho says she is trying to mix her imagination and reality together so that it could be an escape from the sloppy side of reality. This may be her poignant yearning that it will melt away to the world by mixing the imagined and real, although she knows that we cannot escape from the real world. Her works not only let us exhale what we have stored inside, but also refreshes our perspectives of life itself.
