This event has ended.

The first three exhibitions in the space beginning February 2008 will address the political and economic climate both locally and nationally, as the pace of the U.S. presidential election accelerates. “The Cult of Personality / Portraits and Mass Culture” will focus on the use of mass media within democracies to encourage idol worship via celebrity culture, often leading to politics as celebrity contest. The following two shows, “Market Forces, Parts One and Two”, will examine the profound effects of unregulated capitalism on the built environment and the psychology of the individual through its relentless quest to consume ever more territory and “claim” personal space.
