"Alaska Native Art from Two Spirits Gallery" Exhibition

Fountain House Gallery

This event has ended.

This exhibition is the first of Fountain Gallery's Visiting Artists Program, made possible by the generous support of founding sponsor Glenn Close. Two Spirits Gallery is dedicated to artists whose lives have been affected by mental illness, substance abuse, or homelessness. Located in downtown Anchorage, Alaska, it opened in May 2005 as part of the continuum of care offered through the Recovery Services Unit at Cook Inlet Tribal Council, Inc. The Gallery works with a diverse group of artists from across the state - some whose talents may already be known to the public and others whose talents have yet to be discovered. Two Spirits is devoted to reducing the stigma associated with mental illness, addiction and homelessness, and to supporting artists in their recovery. The exhibition includes works by 15 artists and showcases ivory, whalebone and soapstone sculpture, jewelry and two-dimensional art.
