"Scene Change," curated by Emily Harris, presents a range of formally rich work of varying media and content that goes to the heart of A.I.R. in expressing the independence of the artist’s voice.
A.I.R. has sustained its structure as an alternative gallery space through its feminist tenets of exchange, outreach, and its ability to respond to the changing needs of the contemporary art community. By
remaining within the center of the New York art scene, the organization and its artists have been instrumental in contributing to an overarching SCENE CHANGE. A positive change is taking effect in the
artworld where galleries and institutions are exhibiting women artists in larger numbers, offering public programs, creating emerging artist series and project spaces.
