"The mosquito is a ballerina; the most beautiful delicate ballerina; she carries constant movement...She is not a predator; she is a survivor. As humans we are making our pesticides stronger, our protections stronger - we live in the belief that we...are the strongest, that we can control."
"My work is about creating the protection, the army; to protect us from our own false sense of human hierarchy."
"She is my everything; she is the result of a year of imagination and engineering."
"Metal is my choice. It is the material I pick up; it is my career, my craft. Metal is the material that I know - how to work it, the strength, the forgiveness. It seems hard and cold, but in fact it is organic; it has a memory; metal holds what you give it." (FS '08)
Fara'h Salehi lives and works in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, where she has been in a number of exhibitions. She has a degree from Pratt in industrial design. She is a metal fabricator and welder.
