Ch'i Contemporary Fine Art presents "Desire of the Line" by Elise Freda. This is the artist's second solo exhibition at Ch'i and will feature her recent works on paper as well as her encaustic paintings.
In Desire of the Line Elise Freda abstracts the rural habitat that surrounds her home in the Catskills into poetic metaphors. Her paintings combine layers of wax and oil to create abstract images that combine gesture with geometry and evoke nature. Defining space with her use of lines, the layers of acrylic and encaustic are translated into imagery that is graceful and calligraphic, frenetic and drippy, enabling the painting to become whatever it wants to be.
