Kathy Kelly helped initiate Voices in the Wilderness in 1996 to campaign against UN/US sanctions against Iraq. In 2002, she joined a group of activists who demonstrated their solidarity with Iraqi civilians by remaining in Baghdad during the "Shock and Awe" invasion. Kelly has also helped organize and participated in non-violent, direct-action teams in Haiti, Bosnia, Israel, and Lebanon. She has served prison terms for planting corn on a nuclear missile silo and for attempting to close a combat training school at Fort Benning, GA.
