This event has ended.

Matthew McGuinness will be showing new silkscreens from his continuing series, Casper Disasters, in an exhibition at Greene Contemporary. In the Casper Disaster series, McGuinness transforms reality into fantasy. He starts his process by scouring the world wide web for images taken during the second war in Iraq. These images are unfamiliar ones; taken by a soldier or civilian and usually anonymously published. During the second part of the process, McGuinness takes digital snapshots of these images and lets ghost-like forms emerge from the images of physical destruction and emotional disaster. The ensuing work marks his commentary on this particular war.
