This event has ended.

George Zimbel's images capture the simplicity of the everyday and commonplace as well as celebrities and events of the twentieth-century, always cognizant of photography's role in history. His photographs, many taken more than a half-century ago (an Irish Dance Hall in the Bronx; couples in a Paris café; children playing on the streets of New York; a woman at a bar in New Orleans) speak with an elegance and charm that remains with us. His portraits include Leonard Bernstein, Helen Keller, Edward R. Murrow, Mickey Rooney, Presidents like Harry S.Truman and John F. Kennedy; as well as Marilyn Monroe with her billowing skirt over the subway grate. They capture our attention with their directness and straightforward style.
