Marcella Anna Stasa makes art from the seemingly mundane materials she collects from her surroundings in Upton, MA
Milkweed pods, dried leaves and grasses, rusted metal and animal bones are among the items that I bring to the studio to incorporate into my work. I find the beauty in death and decay and present them more as eloquent than melancholy. These fragments of decay can be perceived as grisly, frightening, mysterious and all the while exceptionally lovely. Combined in unlikely ways they have an ethereal feel to them.
