This event has ended.

Washington Square Windows announces an exhibition of the work of Jeff Pullen which will be on public view from April 15th through May 26th, 2008. The installation is mounted in three windows facing Washington Square Park and is lighted 24 hours a day. We welcome all inquiries from the press and the public. Please stop by.

Real and reflected trees provide the protective shade for traditional row houses lining the peaceful streets of Pullen's painted metropolis. Spring blossoms cover branches above and garden beds below, capturing seasonal change in a moment forever locked in time. Delicate wrought iron railings mark individual house boundaries--each with stone steps leading up to private landings and front doors. Empty sidewalks stretch far off into the illusory distance.

Pullen, a native New Yorker, painstakingly paints city scenes, both real and fictional, that conjure wistful memories of quiet, and often overlooked, neighborhoods. "I want my work to create a tension for the viewer, a reality/illusion dynamic that exists on two separate but equal levels. The first being emotional and narrative through my chosen imagery, and the second, textural and structural, with the fusion of their construction elements. Images undulate across brick, wood, fencing, shutters and car-hoods, presenting a three-dimensional feel, and sometimes even smell, of the place."
