As you step off the elevated D train and walk across Surf Avenue, the sea air and the smell of grilling franks from Nathan’s Famous reminds you there is no place like Coney Island. For over a century, young and old, from all walks of life have enjoyed idle afternoons and neon-lit summer evenings at this seaside melting pot.
