Seth Kaller "The Habeas Index: Material Change - Documents that Shaped the United States" and "Constitution Cafe with Josh Chafetz"
CUNY Graduate Center
This event has ended.
In conjunction with the exhibition, "Linda Pollack: Habeas Lounge," historic document dealer and collection-builder Seth Kaller of Seth Kaller Inc. Historic Documents, will present "The Habeas Index: Material Change - Documents that Shaped the United States." One such document is George Washington's letter calling for a complete overhaul of the military, financial, and civil management of the country during the Revolutionary War. "Unless there is a material change," Washington writes, "our efforts will be in vain, & only serve to accumulate expense… without a prospect of obtaining the prize in view." The exhibit will include one of the earliest drafts of the Bill of Rights- with 17 proposed amendments- and other documents. Following Keller's talk is "Constitution Cafe: The Role of the President/Vice-President/Congress + the Constitutional Separation of Powers" presented by Josh Chafetz, Assistant Professor of Law, Cornell Law School.
