This event has ended.

This calligraphy exhibit showcases 30 of actress Yoshiko Sakuma’s works, which include works ranging from traditional to playful along with about 20 Sumi-e water colors and Buddha Paintings by Tendai-shu Archbishop Rokan Ara. As fluid and elegant in its simplicity as the traditional oriental art form, sumi-e paintings demand the artist to control exactly the width and intensity of color as well as the length and form of each line. If the brush rests a second too long a blot will form and spread. Each line is created by one single stroke of the artist’s brush. Therefore, the artist’s body and mind must be synchronized to paint successfully.
