This event has ended.

Xi-Fang is a young contemporary art student from China and brings a fresh view of what the next generation of Asian art has to offer through her bold figurative paintings. The figures play upon Buddhist hand positions often painted in classical art works depicting the traditional Buddha’s and Bodhisattvas. Xi-Fang has created a window into the volatile world of a young artist finding herself not only in life, but also in culture and tradition. By taking a traditional religion that evokes peace and harmony and fusing it with stormy palette of angst and muddled colors and figures, her paintings reflect a rebellion inherent in all youthful minds. The melancholy hues and dark eyes are almost mythical in nature. Though her figures seems lost in a contemplative state in some of her works, Xi-Fang has reached a state of enlightenment, so to speak, through her art as she combines her own classical training in the arts with her own unique rebellious vision.
