In 2005, Jérôme Lagarrigue was selected by the French Academy in Rome to receive a one-year residency at the Villa Medici in Italy to support the development of a series of large-scale portraits. His residency concluded with a sold-out solo exhibit within the Villa Medici’s main gallery, which received substantial attention from the French and Italian press. Jérôme Lagarrigue’s touch is urban. Inspired by street life, music and athletics, his new exhibition “Portraits,” created in honor of the “I Kiffe NY,” French Urban Cultures Festival, will represent the culmination of his work in Italy.
