In the past 10 years, comics have been gaining attention as a legitimate form of storytelling. From book to book, from panel to panel, dedicated readers of comics knew this all along, as they eagerly waited for the next installment about favored characters to be revealed. Fanatic devotion to favorite characters and story arcs is eclipsed only by the affection and respect they feel for those who create them. At conventions and store appearances, fans will wait on endless lines for a signature, and a brief exchange of words with the creators — always with the hope of a sketch. To acquire a comic original drawn with the pencil, brush, pen, or marker of a respected creator is pure magic. Over the years, hand-drafted comic pages, strips, and conceptual work, have become increasingly available to collectors. Curated by Tara Donahue.
