Time Composed is the second installation at the gallery by Korean artist Sun K. Kwak. Sun K. Kwak's signature medium of expression masking tape drawings, are meditative studies of the surrounding environment, a dialog between the spiritual and natural forces that we struggle to reconcile culture-wide. On the surface, the installations are beautiful melodic drawings containing rhythms and momentum resembling improvisational works of art. Yet, recalling the psychic convolutions of surrealist automatism, each work is a reaction to the environment's qi (life force). Tapping into the architecture's history and former dwellers, Ms. Kwak provides a visual clue into the hidden yet apparent energy within each space.
Born in Seoul, Korea, Sun K. Kwak lives and works in New York City.
